Social media character counter
Check one post against the length and hashtag limits of Instagram, Facebook, Threads, LinkedIn, Telegram and TikTok at once.
Free · No sign-up · Runs in your browserLimits match Flomixy's publishing rules, 9 Oct 2026. Instagram, Facebook and Threads are counted in UTF-8 bytes, LinkedIn and Telegram in characters, the TikTok title in UTF-16 units. Instagram rejects captions with more than 30 hashtags.
How the counter works
Every social network sets its own limit for how long a post can be, and some of them also cap hashtags. A caption that fits Instagram can be four times too long for Threads, and a TikTok photo post has a separate 90-character title on top of its description. Paste your text once and the counter checks it against all six networks at the same time.
Each row shows how much of the limit you have used, the limit for that network and field, and how many hashtags you have against the network's cap. When a post goes over, the row turns red and tells you how much to cut. Line breaks count on every network, so a caption with lots of spacing uses more of the limit than it looks. Threads, Instagram and Facebook are measured in UTF-8 bytes in Flomixy's publishing rules, so emoji and accented letters use more than one unit.
The tool runs entirely in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to a server or saved. If you schedule posts for several networks, Flomixy's composer runs the same checks per network while you write, so you can adjust each version before it goes out.
